PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Peekskill Middle School had an early dismissal at 11:45 a.m. Friday after a chlorine spillage event occurred outside the school by Ringgold Street, according to school officials.

Nineteen students and five staff were taken to the Hudson Valley Hospital Center and others were treated at the scene, according to News 12 Westchester. All those hospitalized are expected to be OK, according to the News 12 report.

Middle-school students were initially evacuated to Peekskill High School's gymnasium. But after being advised the clean-up, caused by a tanker making a delivery, would take several hours, the early dismissal was announced.
