Irvington Group Honored For Love 'Em and Leave 'Em Mulch Campaign

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers, Irvington and Hastings groups were honored for their environmental conservation efforts last week by the Federated Conservationists of Westchester County.

The Irvington Green Policy Task Force and the Yonkers Green Policy Task Force were both awarded the Green Seal Award, which honors their efforts to advise their respective municipalities on health and environment issues.

The Yonkers Green Policy Task Force was recognized for its work on green buildings standards and a steep slopes ordinance. The Irvington Green Policy Task Force was recognized for its work on the Love 'Em and Leave 'Em mulch program.

The Hastings High School Envirothon team, which has won the Hudson Valley Regional Envirothon competition twice, was awarded the Edith G. Read Award for its commitment to environment issues.
