US Navy Veteran, Tarrytown's Coviello Dies at 88

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Jack J. Coviello, a longtime Tarrytown resident, died Nov. 11 at the age of 88.

A former U.S. Postal Service worker, Coviello was a World War II veteran and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Eastchester.

He was born on Apr. 9, 1923 to Nicholas and Mary Coviello in New York City. Coviello worked in Manhattan for the postal service and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 2295 in Eastchester. 

Surviving are his wife Marie Cuomo Coviello of Tarrytown, his daughter Joanne (John) Balboni of Bedford, his sisters Grace Roccisano, Margaret Russo and Anne Marie De Lisi, his brother Tony Lacerenza and a grandson.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Transfiguration Church. Interment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale. Memorial donations may be made to Transfiguration Church, 268 South Broadway, Tarrytown, N.Y. 10591.
