Tarrytown's Butkovich to be Remembered Saturday

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. - Irene H. "Rena" Butkovich, a longtime resident of Tarrytown, died Nov. 28. She was 97.

Born in Indiana, Penn., she was the oldest of nine children born to John and Victoria Oldanie Monti. On Apr. 24, 1933, she married Vincent J. Butkovich at St. Teresa of Avila Church in North Tarrytown.

A resident of Tarrytown since the age of 14, she worked General Motors in the 1930s and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union for 28 years.

Butkovich was a parishioner of St. Teresa of Avila Church and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

She is survived by her son Robert of Tarrytown, two sisters, three brothers, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Butkovich was predeceased by her husband Vincent and her son Vincent.

Visition will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown. The funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Teresa of Avila Church with interment to follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
