SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Rob DelGaudio has fond memories of summer camp and how the carefree time he spent with mentors and peers helped form his art and career.

DelGaudio, a Sleepy Hollow resident, is a music teacher at Armonk's Wampus Elementary school and musical theater songwriter. He has written an album of songs to help raise funds to send youngsters to summer camp with his "Campfire Songs Project."

The songwriter teamed with David Alan Thornton to write "Smile," which was selected as on of the top 25 Contemporary Musical Theater Songs of 2013. His music was featured in Pantomonium Productions; "Rapunzel" (2013) and "The Musicians of Bremen" (2012).

The collection of DelGaudio's songs and album's proceeds will be going to SCOPE, National Inclusion Project and A BroaderWay, organizations that help underprivileged kids have the summer camp experience, which DelGaudio believes can change lives.

"Summer camp has a special place in my heart and in the hearts of many," DelGaudio said. "I truly believe that every kid should spend a summer or eight summers at camp. Not every family can afford camp and many camps lack the resources to take in children with disabilities."

DelGaudio launched an indiegogo campaign on April 7 to help fund his project. The site raised more than $1,200 as of April 11.

"We have exactly 30 days to reach our goal of raising $10,000 to record this album and help SCOPE, National Inclusion Project & A BroaderWay send some great kids to summer camps," he said. "I hope people will be a part of this great project."
