This year’s winner is Barbara Davis, New Rochelle’s city historian.

Davis is the society’s third Schulman honoree, according to a press release.

“Davis was selected for the 2015 honors in recognition of the breadth and depth of her activities benefiting both her home community, New Rochelle, and the county of Westchester,” Westchester County Historical Society officials said in a press release.

Davis has been a key organizer of New Rochelle’s tricentennial events, implemented a local history archive at the city’s library and created a New Rochelle Hall of Fame walk to honor outstanding residents.

She has served two six-year terms as a board member of the Westchester County Historical Society, also serving as its president from 1991-93. She was chairwoman of the Westchester County Historic Preservation Advisory Council from 2000-10.

The Sy Schulman History Award presentation will be 3 p.m. at the Irvington Public Library, 12 S. Astor St.

The event, which is also the historical society’s annual meeting, is free and open to the public. However, advance reservations are required.
