Lapicki, Former Tarrytown Officer, Dies at 89

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. - Stanley W. Lapicki, a longtime Tarrytown resident, died Dec. 18. He was 89. 

A World War II veteran, Lapicki was a former Tarrytown police officer. 

Born May 20, 1922 in Ossining, he was the son of William and Josephine Walikowski Lapicki. He graduated from Ossining High School in 1942 and married Concetta Mosiello on Sept. 22, 1946 in Immaculate Conception Church.

For 22 years, he worked as a police officer for the Village of Tarrytown. Lapicki then worked as the building engineer at 150 White Plains Rd. in Tarrytown for Gibraltar Management. 

Lapicki was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Elmo's Council, Westchester County Police Benevolent Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1939 and Consolidated Engine of the Tarrytown Fire Department. His favorite pastimes included golfing, fishing and hunting, as well as going to casinos.

He is survived by his son Michael (Catherine) Lapicki of Ossining, his daughter Diane Lapicki of Mahopac, N.Y., his brother Theodore Lapicki of Briarcliff and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Concetta on Feb. 22, 1990 and his sister Paula Fuller.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown. The funeral mass will take place at St. Theresa's Church in Briarcliff on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
