IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Irvington officials need your help to clean up the Peter Oley trail system.
The village plans to celebrate Girl Scout Day on April 6 by getting residents to volunteer their time at the O'Hara Nature Center and the trail system in the Irvington Woods.
Kids and adults are encouraged to volunteer by helping fix us the trails and prepare new garden beds at the nature center on Mountain Road.
Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the demonstration gardens at the center to learn how to sheet mulch gardens and get them ready for spring planting using discarded newspapers. Officials ask volunteers to bring old newspapers, excluding the glossy sections, to help in the preparations.
Volunteers will separate into groups at 10 a.m. to help clean and repair the trails in the Irvington Woods of branch debris and garbage. Volunteers should bring gloves and water.
