Ex-Tarrytown Bookkeeper, Yvette Murphy Dies at 96

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. - Yvette Murphy, a retired Tarrytown bookkeeper, died Oct. 18 at Bethel Nursing Home in her hometown. She was 96.

Murphy worked for County Asphalt Inc. in Tarrytown as a bookkeeper for a number of years prior to her retirement. She was born on May 30, 1915 in Ossining and was a communicant of St. Augustine Church there.

An active Ossining community member and lifelong resident, Murphy was involved in the League of Women Voters, Ossining's Woman's Club and the New York State Democratic Party. Murphy is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas R. Murphy and her sister Eunice G. Rosenburgh.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Church. Ossining Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Thank you for publishing the obituary of this remarkable lady. Like her father, before her, Yvette lived well into her 90s, and, like her father, she served as Ossining Town Democratic Committee Chairman. I will miss her very much.
