DeCicco & Sons is all about family. And that means their extended family of employees. Which is why, come Thanksgiving -- and Christmas -- they are closed.

The owners know that might be bad for business -- folks inevitably forget the yams or need more milk -- but they put people over profit.

“Our employees take such good care of our customers every day," said Chris DeCicco. "Closing the stores is a way for us to take care of them, and make sure that all our employees are off, at home, enjoying the holiday with their loved ones."

Added Joe DeCicco Jr.: “The supermarket business is demanding on our staff, we work weekends and long hours.

"The holidays are a time for family, so we made the decision and just don’t question it anymore. It’s the right thing to do for our employees."

DeCicco & Sons stores are in Ardsley, Armonk, Brewster, Harrison, Larchmont, Millwood, and Pelham, and is coming to Somers in 2018.
