In September, we gave you a recap of recently opened restaurants with a preview of what's to come.

An update follows -- with some newcomers added. Feel free to add anything we've missed in our Comments or on Facebook.

  • Capers Restaurant, Port Chester: This Mediterranean eatery in the spot formerly occupied by Cafe Mirage, opened Sept. 1 and offers lots of seafood and a few vegetarian options. The owner also runs Appétit Bistro in Port Chester.
  • Eagle Saloon, Peekskill: Live music and the best of "Americana" converge at this rustic pub, open since early December. The Western/Southern-style style eatery with "the longest bar in Westchester" -- its 42-feet -- features signed guitars by Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Stewart and more as well as a menu loaded with Asian poke bowls, salads, quesadillas, ribs and cowboy-spiced chicken eggrolls. See earlier Daily Voice story here
  • Eda's Garden, Yorktown Heights: Expect a menu filled with organic, gluten-free, non-GMO and locally sourced food at this new cafe, open since Nov. 4. See earlier Daily Voice story here.
  • Finn & Brew, Peekskill: Despite the "brew" in its name, this is not your average brew pub. The food -- produced by two Culinary Institute of America grads -- is a gourmet combination of New Ameirican cuisine and comfort food created with the seasons in mind. Grab a spot along the U-shaped bar or by the windows for a scenic waterfront view while you ponder the menu; choices include lamb shank, wild striped bass, fisherman's stew, steamed mussels and a killer dark chocolate espresso bar (among other options). The restaurant, open since Nov. 3, is a partnership with Louie Lanza (of the Hudson Hospitality Group ), John Sharp (of Peekskill's Gleason's and Birdsall House) and Scott Vaccaro (founder/owner of Captain Lawrence Brewing Company in Elmsford). • Flames Steakhouse, Elmsford: What's old is new again --  Flames Steakhouse, founded in 1992 in Briarcliff Manor, opens its new location this past summer at 121 E Main Street in Elmsford.
  • George's Dragon, Tuckahoe: Wholesome Chinese food is the motto at this tiny take-out, open since Dec.16. That means traditional Cantonese cuisine free of artificial colors, preservatives and additives.
  • Hudson Farmer & the Fish, Sleepy Hollow: The folks behind North Salem’s Purdy’s Farmer & the Fish have recreated their Northern Westchester outpost on the Sleepy Hollow waterfront but this time there's an emphasis on pizza. You'll still find seasonal specialities from their farm, along with a full raw bar, and innovative interpretations of seafood classics. Come spring, there will be outdoor dining.
  • Mr. Koo's Kitchen, Irvington:  Looking for inventive Chinese? Head to this intimate eatery which features a contemporary Cantonese menu based on local offerings. In other words, the menu changes weekly. Go here for earlier story.
  • Pizzeria La Rosa, New Rochelle: Open since late September, this pizzeria is getting lots of buzz with its classic Neapolitan meets New York style pizzas, seasonal salads, side dishes and classic Italian desserts, all of which are made in-house with fresh ingredients. See previous Daily Voice story here
  • PopoJito, Scarsdale: Open since mid-November this 30-seat restaurant focuses on healthy Mediterranean-inspired dishes using locally-sourced proteins, seasonal vegetables, and classic flavor elements like tahini and citrus. The restaurant prides itself on it Mexican dish structuring with freshly made corn-based tacos and tortillas. All dishes are gluten-free. See previous Daily Voice story here.
  • River Outpost Brewing, Peekskill: It's brewski time at River Outpost where Head Brewer Justin Sturge is crafting at least six new beers on site starting the last week in December/first week in January. (The grand opening is set for late January.) The brewery may be new but the folks behind it are "old" when it comes to hospitality. River Outpost is a side project of Scott Vaccaro, owner and Brewmaster at Captain Lawrence Brewing Co. in Elmsford, Louie Lanza (Hudson Hospitality Group) and John Sharp (Gleason’s & Birdsall House). The brewery is open Thursday through Sunday and also features a bar menu.
  • Stone Fire Restaurant, Mount Kisco: Wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas are a speciality at Stone Fire-- open since early December. Expect "Italian eats and urban vibes." Previous Daily Voice story here
  • Vento Bistro, New Rochelle: This cozy spot, by Chef Francesco Coli, formerly of La Viletta in Larchmont and Massa’ Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar in Mamaroneck,  has been dishing out fresh seafood and homemade pastas in an intimate setting since opening in late September. The wine shop next door means you'll also find lots of great bottle options. See previous Daily Voice story here

Opening in 2018

  • Colony Grill, Port Chester: The Connecticut-based pizza chain, known for its paper thin-crust pizza served with a “hot oil” topping, has had construction delays. The opening is now set for spring.
  • Mission Taqueria, Pleasantville: No word on when this will open but suffice it to say the eatery  -- from the folks behind 105Ten Bar & Grill in Briarcliff Manor -- will feature Mexican fusion fare. It is located at 472 Bedford Rd.
  • Pax Romana, White Plains: Expect an open airy space when Pax Romana opens -- possibly by the end of January (but possibly later). "Every aspect of the space is visible," said Owner Paul Russo. "From the kitchen and pasta bar in the dining room and even prep rooms and storage." Pizza will also be a bigger part of the operation, with flour imported from Rome. The eatery is five doors down from its original location at 171 East Post Road.
  • Sing Sing Kill Brewery, Ossining: Owned by two Ossining beer enthusiasts, this New York State Farm Brewery will source ingredients locally and offer eight beers at a time. It will also feature Hudson Valley bar food and a family-friendly atmosphere. Set to open in early January 2018; check their Facebook page for updates.
  • Walter's Hot Dogs, White Plains: The iconic Mamaroneck landmark will open at 186 Mamaroneck Ave. by -- hopefully -- the end of February, according to Co-Owner Katharine Warrington Woodward.
