Disco Soup

When: Saturday; noon to 3 p.m.

Where: The Heights, 920 Oakridge Commons, South Salem

Why you can't miss this:

Disco Soup is not your ordinary dance party -- take the whole family for a day of cooking that includes soup making, disco dancing, learning and gathering and eating! Sponsored by Slow Food Metro North to celebrate World Disco Soup Day. General admission $10; students $8; children under 5 free.

Science Barge Opening Day

When: Noon to 6 p.m.

Where:  99 Dock St., Yonkers

Why you can't miss this:

Celebrate the Science Barge's eighth year on the Yonkers waterfront during its grand opening with a day full of hands-on science fun; music by the Nepperhan Drum Band; tours of the barge, and live animals, yep, live animals from the Greenburgh Nature Center. Admission is free, open to all ages.

Mamaroneck Food Truck & Makers Market

When: Sunday; Noon to 5 p.m.

Where: 400 Fayette Ave, Mamaroneck

Why you can't miss this:

Expect a variety of food trucks, local businesses, area artisans and community organizations during the event for all ages. Among the food vendors on hand: Walter's Hot Dogs, Longford's Own-Made Ice Cream, HAPA Asian-fusion, and Boxcar Cantina. Also expect kid's art activities, music and lots of cool art. Admission is free.
