Stone Barns visitors enjoyed the Farmers Market, livestock shelters, hay barn greenhouses and hiking trails while many waited in line to eat at the Bill Hill Cafe and Restaurant.

Edgemont's David Silver and his family relaxed on the stone wall outside the Farmers Market.

"Great place to be today," Silver said. "We're just hanging out and enjoying the place."

Brad Kodak of Hoboken, N.J., sat with his son Winston on a Stone Barns hill listening to Grateful Dead music.

"We don't come here that often but I expect to visit more now," Kodak said. "It's a beautiful place to be -- weather is perfect."

Stone Barns Center is a non-profit farm and education center where visitors can get a close-up experience with the free ranging livestock, some of who wander on to the quiet roads and allow children to get up close.

Stone Barns Center is at 630 Bedford Road and is open Wednesdays through Sundays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
