SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – The upcoming pilot of FOX’s new sci-fi television show “Sleepy Hollow” was previewed at Comic-Con over the weekend.
Stars of the show Tom Mison, who plays Ichabod Crane, and actress Nichole Beharie reportedly discussed how the show takes place in a world where Washington Irving’s well-known “Legend of Sleepy Hollow” does not exist, according to EnStarz .
Set in the village of Sleepy Hollow, but filmed elsewhere, half of the show’s characters are from the Revolutionary War but the tale is created in modern times, the report said. The show’s trailer shows several aerial views of the village, including the Philipse Manor Train Station and the Hudson River waterfront; a character in the trailer also references Dobbs Ferry.
“This allows writers to place Crane as a Revolutionary War solider, have him behead this mysterious foe, who happens to be one of the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse, and then suddenly place them both in the modern world. The time-jump and bringing in a series of events and secrets form 250 years prior gives the program far more material to work with than just the classic Washington Irving story,” EnStarz wrote.
“Sleepy Hollow” debuts on Sept. 16 at 9 p.m. on FOX.
