Annual Radiothon Supports Childhood Triumph Over Life-Threatening Illnesses

On Nov. 15-17, 100.7 WHUD will host the 13th Annual Radiothon For The Kids. The three-day live broadcast from Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital will feature interviews with Hudson Valley children and their families, who will share uplifting and inspiring stories of triumph over the significant medical challenges they faced while under the care of Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.

The annual event is a fundraiser for the hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network, which provides children from the Hudson Valley with life-changing and lifesaving care including open-heart surgery, brain surgery, cancer treatments, trauma and burn care, organ transplants, advanced neonatal services and other advanced pediatric care.

Below is the story of one child who benefited from the hospital’s lifesaving treatment:

Sophia Pinto, Age 4

While just 16 weeks pregnant, Sophia’s mother Christina found out her baby girl was going to have multiple congenital heart defects, including a severely underdeveloped right ventricle and several unformed valves. A short seven days after birth, Sophia had her first lifesaving open-heart surgery and has had two more successful surgeries since then. Today, Sophia is a happy, healthy 4-year-old. Click here to learn more about Sophia's story.

To make a donation during the live Radiothon, call (888) 499-5437 or visit WHUD's website. Online donations are also being accepted prior to and during the event by clicking here. Community members interested in supporting Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital can visit the hospital’s lobby during the Radiothon, which is located at 100 Woods Road on WMCHealth's Valhalla campus.
