POCANTICO HILLS, N.Y. – Volunteers will be cleaning up two local parks this Saturday as part of “I Love My Park Day,” a statewide parks beautification campaign.

Friends of the Rockefeller State Park Preserve will work to plant flowers and plants near the Rockwood Hall Foundation area. In Sleepy Hollow, the Sleepy Hollow Environmental Advisory Council and the Webber Park Association will also host a park cleanup for Douglas Park.

The second annual event boasts more than 70 state park cleanup sites where residents can volunteer their time and effort.

“I am pleased to again invite New Yorkers to participate in this annual volunteer initiative to help clean and spruce up these great state assets, which play a significant role in our tourism industry and economy,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in statement.

Volunteers will work from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rockwood Hall to remove invasive weeks and add various plants to the Rockwood Hall Foundation area. Organizers say the event is appropriate for people ages 13 and up, with supervision required for teens.

Volunteers will work from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Douglas Park to prepare the park and the playground for the season. The event is open to everyone.

Volunteers should bring water, lunch and garden gloves.

To participate in the “I Love My Park Day,” register by calling 914-631-1470 Ext. 11 or online at the state's parks and trails website .
