Ever Martinez-Reyes, of Roosevelt, pleaded guilty Thursday, Sept. 26, to two counts of felony rape, two counts of sexual abuse, and four counts of assault, the Nassau County District Attorney's Office said.

He is expected to be sentenced to 20 years in prison in addition to 20 years post-release supervision and to register as a sexual offender, the DA's Office said.

“The defendant ruthlessly preyed upon a woman walking home at night and sexually assaulted her,” District Attorney Madeline Singas said. “Today, this incredibly brave survivor heard her defendant admit in open court to this brutal assault. Her courage to not only fend off her attacker but to also face her accuser in court cannot be understated."

According to the District Attorney, at 2 a.m. on Sept. 28, 2018, Martinez-Reyes followed the victim down a Freeport street, struck her in the face and rendered her unconscious. He then dragged the woman to the side of a lawn and repeatedly punched and kicked her about the face.

While the victim was unconscious the defendant sexually assaulted her. The attack ended when the woman regained consciousness and fought off her assailant.

The defendant was arrested on October 5, 2018, by members of the Nassau County Police Department. The Freeport Police Department assisted in the investigation.

"The survivor extends her personal thanks to the Freeport Police Department, the Nassau County Police Department’s First Squad, the NCPD Special Victims Squad, Detectives Antonio Ramos and Alfredo Rodriquez, and the NCDA, for their work on this case," said Singas.
