Sleepy Hollow's Phelps Hospital Hosts Health Screenings

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Phelps Memorial Hospital Center's Healthy Life Series offers a slew of community programs on health-related topics and health screenings.

All events are free and take place on the Phelps campus, 701 N. Broadway, unless otherwise noted. 

A schedule of events is below. 

Wednesday, June 4:  Mind Games is a free activity and a fun way for seniors to help stimulate their minds and improve cognitive functioning by playing board games and computer games that stimulate memory, visual recall, problem solving, focus, speed and spatial reasoning. Takes place in the boardroom (park in back of the hospital) from 2-3:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month. Call 366-3937 for more information.

Wednesdays, June 4 and 18:  Blood pressure screenings conducted the first and third Wednesday mornings of every month from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the Walkway Conference Room. Appointments are required. To make an appointment or for more information, call 366-3220.

Monday, June 9: Laryngopharyngeal reflux -- silent reflux screening: Screenings conducted by Dr. Craig H. Zalvan, iaryngologist, medical director of Phelps Institute for Voice and Swallowing Disorders. From 8:45-10 a.m. Registration is required. Call 366-3220 to register.

Tuesday, June 10: Better Breathers Club: The Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group welcomes those with pulmonary fibrosis to learn and share with others, noon-1 p.m. in the Pulmonary Lab (B Level) at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center, call 366-3712 to register.

Wednesday, June 11: Snoring Screening for Kids. Screening held from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Conducted by Dr. Tali Lando, director of pediatric otolaryngology, in the Walkway Conference Room. Registration is required. Call 366-3220 to register.
