TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Sandra Bernhard's live show is a lot like her life: a little theater, comedy, rock 'n' roll and cabaret all rolled up into one package. And it's something she's not anxious to give up.
"It's everything," she said. "It's what I love to do."
The famed comedian, singer and actress will be bringing her unique show—and her band, The Flawless Zircons—to the Tarrytown Music Hall on Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are still available on the Music Hall's website.
Bernhard first achieved fame in the 1970s at Los Angeles's Comedy Store, eventually going on to national comedy tours, hit Broadway shows and several TV roles.
Bernhard is most recognizable for playing Nancy Bartlett, the first openly-gay character on a network sitcom, on Roseanne. Bernhard's returning to the small screen as well, with a special guest appearance on ABC's "The Neighbors" and two TV shows in development.
Bernhard enjoys taking her audience through her day-to-day life, incorporating experiences from the past year into humorous insights on the state of modern culture.
It could just be a one-off meeting or a crazy moment that happened, she said.
Comedy and acting are things she always wanted to do.
“It seems to be something of a great outlet for being who I am,” she said.
