Property Managers Get Pep Talk on Preparedness

STAMFORD, Conn. – Area property managers recently got some advice on dealing with emergencies from two men who've been in plenty of rough scrapes, Iraq War vets Sgt. M.J. Torres and Staff Sgt. Nathaniel Avridore. The two, who have each served three tours in Iraq, met with building owners and property managers at Stamford’s High Ridge Park Corporate Center.

The event was sponsored by the Southern Connecticut Building Owners and Managers Association in recognition of National Preparedness Month. In addition to hearing the local soldiers' perspectives on defending their nation, those at the session also had a chance to say “thank you” to the two for serving, a press release said. Torres is from Shelton, Avridor from Stamford.

“Over the last 10 years, the commercial real estate industry has made great strides in enhancing the security of their buildings and increasing their preparedness measures,”  Jodi Gutierrez, association president, said in the release. Gutierrez is also vice president/ property management for George Comfort & Sons.

Gutierrez added that High Ridge Park Corporate Center, where she is the on-site property manager, routinely holds emergency preparedness fairs and meets with tenants to discuss new security measures.
