CORTLANDT, N.Y. - Here's a list of events happening around Cortlandt this week.

Monday, August 6

Croton Board of Trustees: 8 p.m. The board will have a regular meeting where legislative action will be taken and there will be public comment. The meeting will take place on the second floor of the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, 1 Van Wyck St., Croton-on-Hudson.

Cortlandt Town Board: 7 p.m. The board will have a work session in the Vincent F. Nyberg room of Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt Manor. No legislative action likely will be taken, but current issues will be discussed. There is no public comment during a work session.

Tuesday, August 7

Diabetes Wellness Workshops: 2-3 p.m. Those living with diabetes, pre-diabetes, caregivers and family members are welcome to this free workshop sponsored by the Hudson Valley Hospital Center. All session include evidence-based management tools. Classes take place at 1992 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor. Registration is required. Afternoons at the Movies: 4 p.m. Croton Free Library will show a "G" rated movie. Admission is free at 171 Cleveland Drive, Croton-on-Hudson.

PJ Day at the Library: 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Receive a snack of milk and cookies after coming to the Hendrick Hudson Free Library in your pajamas, and reading for 20 minutes. The library is at 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose.

Wednesday, August 8

Family Wellness Workshop: 2-3 p.m. This free workshop is open to the caregivers of those with chronic illness and is sponsored by the Hudson Valley Hospital Center. To fulfill required registration, call 914-737-9000. Classes take place at 1992 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor.

Midnight Snack: 4:30 p.m. Children ages 4-6 can go to the Hendrick Hudson Free Library and hear nighttime tales, before making an edible craft. This event is not suitable for children with food allergies. Register by calling 914-739-5654, for visit the library.

Duct Tape and Pizza Party: 5 p.m. At the last of four weeks of workshops, you can learn how to create interesting items out of duct tape, including wallets, bracelets and bags. There will be cartoons and pizza. Register by calling the Hendrick Hudson Free Library at 914-739-5654 or visit the library. This event is for kids who are 12 years old and older.

Thursday, August 9

"Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close": 1:30 p.m. Join others at the Hendrick Hudson Free Library for a matinee movie. Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock star in this adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's novel; this film is rated "PG13." 

Prostate Health and Wellness Lecture Series: 6-7:30 p.m. "The Latest in Radiation Therapy" is part of a free series of talks co-sponsored by Northern Westchester Hospital and the American Cancer Society. Talks are facilitated by a prostate cancer survivor. The hospital is at 400 E. Main St., Mount Kisco. Visit its website for more information.
