Professional Women Of Westchester Get Inside The Mind Of The Media

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Local entrepreneurs and professionals packed Ruth's Chris of Tarrytown on Monday, April 13, for the organization's third annual Meet the Media event.

Panelists included Nancy Ward, morning anchor for FIOS1 News Lower Hudson Valley; Jenn Andrlik, executive editor at Westchester Home magazine; Jeanne Muchnick, features editor for Daily Voice; and Anne Jordan Duffy, associate publisher at Westfair Communications, Inc. 

Some tips for working with the media were offered: 

  • Make sure your story affects more than just yourself – look for bigger impact in the community;
  • Send good visuals to accompany your pitch or press release and; 
  • Email your pitch; don’t call, and don’t get testy with the media on Twitter.

The “Professional Women…” brand represents an organization, which is comprised of two chapters, including Professional Women of Westchester and Professional Women of Putnam. The programs and initiatives are led by the members’ needs – professional, emotional and educational. PWW will host their next event on May 11 at Bistro Z in Tarrytown.
