The Stars for Our Troops project, run by the Major Stuart Adam Wolfer Institute (MSAWI), "respectfully" cuts the stars from old flags to gives them to veterans and active members of the armed services as "special recognition for what they do or have done for our country."

The MSAWI is partnering with the UJA-Federation of New York to further the project this coming Flag Day.

The Harold & Elaine Shames JCC on the Hudson will be hosting a volunteer event to aid the Stars for Our Troops project from 10 - 11:30 a.m. on June 14 at 371 South Broadway.
