Make-a-wish Foundation Hosts Ball At Tarrytown Hotel

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley will host its annual Wish Ball, An Evening of Wishes at the Tarrytown Doubletree Hotel on Friday, May 2.

The Wish Ball is the largest of the foundation’s annual fundraisers and attracts hundreds of the Hudson Valley’s most distinguished residents, corporate and community leaders and volunteers who join together to honor and celebrate the courage of wish children, the joy of their wishes, and the compassion of its donors. This year, the local chapter is honoring the Sterling National Bank and Make-A-Wish Board Member Brian Doyle and business partner, Nick Bell, co- owners of J.P. Doyle’s Restaurant & Public House in Sleepy Hollow with The Frank and Kitty Shankwitz Award.

This award goes to those who represent the same compassion, dedication and support of the foundation’s mission as Frank and Kitty, who were two of the founders of Make-A-Wish, more than three decades ago.

“We couldn’t make wishes come true without the continued support of local businesses and people in the communities we serve,” said Thomas J. Conklin, president and chief executive officer, Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley.

“The continuing support by Sterling National Bank and the generous contributions from Brian Doyle and Nick Bell, play a vital role in helping the Chapter carry out its mission to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening  medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.”
