Mamaroneck Mayor: Be Careful Who You Let In Your Home

MAMARONECK, N.Y. – In light of multiple reports that men impersonated Westchester Joint Water Works employees to gain entry to Mamaroneck resident’s homes over the last two weeks, Mayor Norman Rosenblum sent residents a list of authorized personnel who are conducting home inspections in the Rye Neck area.

The Town of Rye authorized data collectors from Vision Government Solutions to visit homes in parts of Mamaroneck, Rye Brook and Port Chester to update its assessment data. All inspectors have photo identification.

“It is advisable to make sure you are aware and request proof of identity of anyone who requests to enter your home,” Rosenblum said in an email. “Most important is to impress upon any children that they should not open the door for anyone when they are alone or they should call their parent/guardian to answer the door.”

Two reports of men impersonating water company employees to gain access to homes were reported in the village Oct. 11 and 12. Another two were reported Oct. 5 in Harrison.

Similar inspections are being done in the Town of Mamaroneck and Scarsdale.

The area in Rye Neck that will be covered is between North Barry Avenue and Phillips Park Road and bordered by East Boston Post Road and Jefferson Avenue.
