Leandra's Law DWI Motorist Among Three Charged In Route 55 Checkpoint

Three people are facing driving while intoxicated charges following a DWI Sobriety Checkpoint on Route 55 in the Town of LaGrange on Saturday, state police said.

One of the motorists was charged with DWI under Leandra's Law for driving drunk with a person age 15 or younger inside the vehicle.

The three are:

  • Cassaun Miree of Poughkeepsie, 21, who was charged with aggravated felony DWI Leandra’s Law and provided a breath sample that indicated he had a .18 BAC, state police said.
  • William Hammond of Carmel, 60, who was charged with DWI after providing a breath sample that indicated he had a .12 percent blood-alcohol content, state police said.
  • Jeffrey Caston of Poughkeepsie, 57,  who was charged with DWI after providing a breath sample that indicated he had a .10 percent BAC, police said.

In addition to the DWI arrests, there was one arrest made for unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
