Police have confirmed that the remains of two people have been found at a Long Island park after a teen walking to school discovered a human arm.

At a press conference Friday morning, March 1, Suffolk County Police said cadaver dogs had located a woman’s head along with what appears to be a woman’s leg and arm in a pile of leaves at Babylon’s Southards Pond Park.

Investigators were initially called to the park at around 8:40 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 29 when a teen walking to school found a human left arm on the west side of Siegal Boulevard, between Park and Madison avenues.

The girl immediately called her father who then called 911.

In an update Thursday night, police said a cadaver dog found a leg on the western side of the park near Graham Place.

The same dog continued searching the east side of the park and found a right arm approximately 20 feet away from where the left arm was discovered Thursday morning.

In all, detectives have found a woman’s head, leg, and arm, as well as two arms belonging to a man. Police said the man’s arms have tattoos.

Investigators said it appears the remains have been at the park for no more than a few days.

Autopsies were underway Friday to try and determine their identities and causes of death.

The case is being investigated as a homicide.

No other information has been made public.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact the Suffolk County Police Department at 631-852-6392 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-Tips. All calls will remain anonymous.
