TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Brentano String Quartet returns to Westchester to open the 61st season of Friends of Music Concerts on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m. at Kusel Auditorium at Sleepy Hollow High School.

Joined by violist Hsin-Yun as guest artist, the Brentano’s program will include Mozart’s String Quartet in B-flat major, his Quintet for Strings in G minor as well as Mendelssohn’s Quintet for Strings in B-flat major, Op. 87.

Formed in 1992, Brentano has won public and critical praise. In 1996, the quartet was invited by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center to be inaugural members of the prestigious Chamber Music Society Two. Last spring the Brentano was named Quartet in Residence at the Yale School of Music.

In 2012 the Quartet’s recording of Beethoven’s late quartet, Op. 313, was the basis of the soundtrack for the movie “A Late Quartet,” starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Christopher Walken and Catherine Keener.

Adult single tickets to individual concerts are $30 per ticket. Those 18 and under are free. Ticket order forms may be downloaded from the Friends of Music web site here and mailed with a check to Friends of Music Concerts, P.O. Box 675, Millwood, NY 10546.
