SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Master storyteller Jonathan Kruk will bring Ebenezer Scrooge and other Charles Dickens characters to life at an historic Tarrytown church.

Performances of the classic “A Christmas Carol,” will take place on two weekends in December at the Reformed Church of the Tarrytowns.

Complete with musical accompaniment, they are set for 4, 5:15 and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10 and 17, and Sunday, Dec. 11 and 18.

To add to the seasonal festivities, Historic Hudson Valley will open its Holiday Gift Shop at nearby Philipsburg Manor. The shop is stocked with local honey, books about the Hudson Valley, scented candles, and other wares from regional artists.

The church is at 42 N. Broadway (Route 9), Tarrytown.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children under 18. Historic Hudson Valley members get a discount of $5 per ticket.

Since seating is limited, Historic Hudson Valley is advising folks to buy tickets in advance at www.hudsonvalley.org or by calling (914)-366-6900.

“A Christmas Carol,” based on Dickens’ 1843 novella, is a Victorian morality tale about an old miser who sees the light after being visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. It may be a little too scary for very young children, so Historic Hudson Valley is recommending the event for ages 10 and up.

The holiday shop is at the Philipsburg Manor Visitor Center, 381 N. Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, and is open from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturdays and from noon - 5 p.m. on Sundays through Dec. 18.
