SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- The JCC of Mid-Westchester and Camp Zeke are co-hosting a "Day of Wellness" on Oct. 20.
The event at the JCC of Mid-Westchester, 999 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale, is being held in cooperation with the Westchester Road Runners Club and New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department.
The day will begin with a 5K run and family walk at 9 a.m. (registration begins at 8 a.m.). After the run, the day will feature a full schedule of programs in fitness, sports, cooking, nutrition, and a wellness-oriented comedy show.
Champion boxers Dmitriy Salita and Yuri Foreman will work out with participants; pro-basketball player Tamir Goodman will be on hand to shoot hoops with families in the JCC gym; and "Kosher by Design" author and chef Susie Fishbein will host a cooking lesson.
In addition, the Bible Players will provide comic entertainment in the JCC's Bendheim Performing Arts Center.
Throughout the day, the public is invited to join the JCC of Mid-Westchester's instructors for free spin, yoga, Zumba and strength-training classes, as well as a swim in the JCC's pool.
Healthful food selections will be available at a farmers market operated by Adamah and Hazon.
Admission is free, with two exceptions. Advanced registration for the 5K race is $15, $20 on the event day, and registration for the Fishbein cooking demonstration also is $15 in advance and $20 on the day of event.
