Man Accused Of Killing Child In Hit-Run Crash In Hyde Park Turns Himself In

The man who allegedly killed a 4-year-old boy in Boston's Hyde Park earlier this month in a hit-and-run crash has turned himself in to police, authorities said.

Olguens Joseph was identified as the person who killed 4-year-old Ivan Christopher Pierre with a car at 165 Wood Avenue on July 18 before he sped away, according to the Boston Police Department. The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office issued a warrant for his arrest on Monday.

Joseph is charged with: 

  • Motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, 
  • Leaving the scene of personal injury and death, and 
  • Operation of an unregistered/uninsured motor vehicle 

Police said Joseph hit Ivan Christopher Pierre around 9:30 p.m. and drove away. Cameras captured his car speeding down Harvard Street after the crash. Paramedics rushed Ivan Christopher Pierre to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
