BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- A pair of Berkshires-based yoga instructors will be offering a 3-hour workshop called "Slow Yoga and Qigong: Relax and Restore," on Saturday, May 14 at Club Fit in Briarcliff Manor.
The instructors, Ken Nelson and Lesli Lang, will help foster relaxation in those who attend by teaching how to naturally slow down, stop the creation of tension and nurture intuitive wisdom.
The workshop will focus largely on qigong, which includes "easy-to-learn Chinese energy exercises that foster moving with ease, grace and freedom; the passive postures of yin yoga ... ; and the bliss of deep relaxation in yoga nidra," according to organizers.
Nelson, a former Fullbright lecturer in the field since 1975, and Lang, a theater and performance artist with 20 years of experience working with Fortune 500 companies, offer workshops in mind-body wellness and wisdom traditions.
Nelson and Lang, along with David Ronka, are co-authors of "Creating the Conditions for Transformation," a soon-to-be-published book about the tools linking the heart and mind.
The workshop is scheduled from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. on May 14 at Club Fit, 584 North State Road, Briarcliff Manor. Entrance to the event costs $45 for YTA members and $65 for non-members who register in advance. Members will be charged $55 at the door and non-member $75.
Those who attend are asked to bring a yoga mat and arrive early. Preregistration is requested and can be done here .
