What started as a two paddle boat business created by Mamaroneck resident Nancy Vincent two years ago has grown to 22 paddle boards and five kid kayaks.

The Briarcliff Manor native started her season Memorial Day weekend and plans to go through October 1. "I'll extend it if the weather stays warm," she said. "The water temperatures are actually really nice in the early fall."

Hence, the "hot" part of the equation.

Though SUP is also cool, as in a great way to spend a summer day.

For the first time, the mom of three has been given space at Harbor Island Park in Mamaroneck next to the Bait and Tackle shop. Previously, she was teaching private and semi-private lessons at the public launch on Rushmore and Bleeker by Orienta Beach Club and at the Rye town dock by the American Yacht Club.

Vincent said what makes SUP special is that she offers a fun recreational activity for just about anyone who loves to SUP or wants to try it.

"I have kids kayaks to accommodate families who want to SUP but the kids aren't of age yet," she said.

She, in fact, recently did a kids camp so youngsters had somewhere fun to go before their summer camps began.

And, she's boosted her repertoire, adding a staff, along with SUP Yoga, SUPIT365 (fitness class on the board), singles nights, kids birthday parties, corporate outings, and rentals.

The World Paddle Association (WPA) certified instructor, who is also trained in CPR and is waterfront lifeguard certified, is also teaching SUP for the Mamaroneck Village camp.

Drop in classes start at $35 with all gear and parking included. Go to www.supwestchester.com for more information.
