Top Stories 2012: Tarrytown Welcomes New Businesses

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Tarrytown shoppers welcomed a lot of new faces in 2012.

New businesses popped up all over the village, from the former Stop & Shop space to shops on Main Street. Business owners had several reasons for moving to Tarrytown.

Pure Mountain Olive Oil co-owner Zak Cassady-Dorion said people walking by the shop have peeked in to welcome him to the neighborhood, which is one of the things he likes about Tarrytown.

“We wanted a place with a strong local community – a place where people really take their food seriously, and Tarrytown really fit in,” Cassady-Dorion said.

Owners made sure to bring unique ideas to their shops, such as used books, gourmet hot dogs or yogurt and crepes. Here are a few of the new businesses that put down roots in 2012:
