TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Sara Levine has been named the new executive director of Evolve Dance.
Levine will begin her new job in July, leading the new Evolve Dance at the Y which replaces the YDance program at the Tarrytown YMCA.
“I am delighted to be joining the Evolve dance community in this role,” Levine said. “I look forward to working with Evolve's experienced artistic directors and staff and talented professional faculty to continue to providing open access to dance for dancers, community and audience members, and dance patrons. Together with Evolve's talented board, we will collaborate to increase enrollment and to further realize its mission to connect local communities to dance, as well as connect on a national and global level through dance.”
Evolve Dance provides dance classes to community residents at the Tarrytown YMCA, as well as sponsoring its own professional dance company.
Levine replaces Karenne Koo, who has relocated to Arizona after spending six years with Evolve Dance.
Levine currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Elizabeth Mascia Child Care Center, as well as with the Community Food Pantry of Tarrytown and the Girl Scouts of the Hudson.
“She really gets dance, and she really gets Evolve—she understands our way of working, which is dynamic, creative, far-flung and occasionally chaotic,” Co-Artistic Director Jane Alexandre said. “Sara already brings her curiosity, her intelligence, and her ability to take in and process enormous amounts of new information to Evolve as a dance student, as a parent, and as a volunteer. I'm so happy she'll now be bringing her gifts as a working partner.”
A meet-and-greet with Levine will be held after Evolve Dance company members perform a new work on May 11 at the Tarrytown YMCA.
