“For us it is fresh and local, there’s no need to leave the ZIP code,” said Sleepy Hollow resident Tanya Moniere. “They make the perfect burrito.”
Walter Escobar, co-owner of Tijuana Mexican Grill at 84 Beekman Ave., says business has been “amazing” since the restaurant opened about a month ago.
“Everyone in town and the customers are so nice,” said Escobar. “We haven’t had a single complaint and we already have regulars!”
Tijuana Mexican Grill is a take-out establishment with two counters and a few tables for seating. They serve specialty dishes like the Mama Juana Torta, Tacos Gringos or the Tijuana Salad Bowl, a crispy tortilla bowl grilled with chicken, Romaine lettuce, avocado, peppers, cheese, cilantro and topped with Tijuana salsa for $8.95.
Patrons can also create an original Mexican masterpiece by building your own tortas, burritos, bowls, salads, nachos, quesadillas, tostadas and tacos.
There is a choice of ground chorizo, steak strips, roasted vegetables, ground beef, pan-seared vegetables, tacos al pastor, carnitas or grilled chicken as a base and then include add-ins like rice, cheese, guacamole and more. The restaurant also has a kid-friendly menu.
Tijuana Mexican Grill is a family-owned restaurant that started with a Mount Kisco location in September 2013 opened by Nolvin Ventura, a Bedford Hills resident and Fox Lane High School graduate, and his uncle Jimmy Ventura. The Venturas co-own the Sleepy Hollow location with Escobar, who is a cousin.

“It’s a big community of both Latin and American people, and there is no Tex-Mex food,” said Ventura. “We’ve been thinking about moving here for a while.
Ventura was pleased to see the community turn out, including the mayor, for the Sleepy Hollow restaurant’s grand opening on Nov. 2.
“Everyone is so friendly,” said Ventura. “It’s a great community.”
Tijuana Mexican Grill also gives back to its community by offering local students discounts. They are open Monday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and can be reached at 914-909-2057.
