Phelps Launches Sleepy Hollow Farmers Market

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – There's a new farmers market in town.

Phelps Memorial Hospital Center will open its first farmers market Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The market will run from June through November.

“We are all about promoting good health," Phelps Senior Vice President Daniel Blum said. "Good health starts with good food. The market fits right in with our Vitality Initiative, which focuses on encouraging wellness in our community."

Venders will set up shop in the Rockwood Hall parking lot at the end of Route 117. Parking will be available for free in the Phelps parking garage.

Hastings food writer Pascale Le Draoulec is organizing the market. Le Draoulec also runs the Hastings, Irvington and Chappaqua farmers markets. Phelps officials said the market will offer farm-fresh fruits, vegetables, cheeses, eggs and meats. Prepared foods will also be available.

Sleepy Hollow, Tarrytown and Irvington residents have several other farmers market options. The Tarrytown Farmers Market runs every Saturday in Patriot's Park from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Irvington Farmers Market runs every Wednesday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Main Street School parking lot. The Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture hosts its own farmers market every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
