The 35.7-acre proposed site is home to a three-story office building and a warehouse. To make room for the division's needs, the company is proposing adding a 122,000-square-foot facility, said lohud.com.

PepsiCo officials said in a statement to lohud that they are in the initial stages of a possible expansion.

The city learned of the expansion plans when the company informed them they were considering relocating. That's when Mount Pleasant town Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi, who is also chairman of the Mount Pleasant Industrial Development Agency, began to take action to formulate a plan to keep the company in town, added lohud.com.

Since then, the IDA and the PepsiCo have been working on incentives to make the expansion happen in Mount Pleasant. Fulgenzi told lohud the company is seeking sales tax exemptions and possibly a payment in lieu of taxes.

Town officials will hold a public meeting to discuss the project's draft environmental impact statement at 8 p.m. Thursday at Mount Pleasant Town Hall.

Residents can comment in person or email statements to csaracino@mtpleasantny.com.
