Through this initiative, NPW plans on providing training opportunities to representatives of the nonprofit community in Westchester.

“Many people may not realize that the nonprofit sector makes up 13.6 percent of the workforce in Westchester County," said NPW Executive Director Joanna Straub. "This workforce provides a wide variety of valuable programs and services, but limitations on spending and budget constraints reduce opportunities for staff development. Thanks to KeyBank, with this grant, we will be able to provide workshops to assist nonprofit staff members to develop their potential.”

According to Straub, workshops will be part of the resources available. In addition, NPW will play the role of facilitator and convener to collect and share information about other training opportunities through an events calendar on its website, as well as its e-newsletter that reaches more than 500 people in the community.

“Key encourages people and communities to achieve economic self-sufficiency through strategic philanthropic investment in financial education and workforce development programs. This donation will not only strengthen the skills of nonprofit professionals across Westchester County, but it will also strengthen the quality of services and programs available to at-need individuals and families in our communities,” said Ruth Mahoney, president, KeyBank, Hudson Valley Market.

“We thank KeyBank for their contribution in helping us to continue to strengthen the workforce of the nonprofit sector. Nonprofits are a large part of the economy and a vital force in Westchester,” said Kathy Halas, NPW board president.
