TARRYTOWN, N.Y. Tarrytown resident Anna Cangiano became increasingly frustrated with the number of beauty products containing ingredients she was allergic to and the hassle of finding ones that were all-natural.
Cangiano says in in the midst of working in New York City, coming home, wanting to take a shower and running out of product she thought Maybe I should buy these things wholesale in bulk.
The Au Naturel Health and Beauty shop is the product of Cangiano's extensive research into all-natural, organic and genetically-modified-foods free products. Cangiano says the store will start to open this week, with a grand opening planned for Saturday.
The store will sell beauty products, as well as health supplements, protein mixes, and a wide variety of healthy foods. Cangiano noted there will be several Dr. Oz-recommended products available.
I'm really excited about the products and I'm really excited to teach people what's not in my products, she said.
Cangiano's promise is to sell only all-natural products and help customers differentiate between what's good and bad for their bodies and the environment, which is something larger chain stores such as Whole Foods don't do.
This is really more of weeding through products, talking to the people who actually make the products and knowing what's behind it, she said.
Cangiano has high hopes for her shop.
I think it's going to be really well-accepted because it's something different and it's something we need, she said. There's something for everyone.
