WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- After backing successful shops in Yonkers and Mount Vernon, Little Caesars -- an international carryout pizza chain -- is looking to open a new franchise in White Plains and eventually in Port Chester, Ossining and Peekskill.

Ed Ader, director of franchise development for the Detroit-based company, said potential shop owners need to prove they have $100,000 to invest initially, and that they can qualify for a $250,000 mortgage for a small storefront.

In addition to new Westchester County franchises, Little Caesars plans to add new "hot and ready" pizza stores in Rockland, Putnam and Dutchess counties as well as in northern New Jersey and Fairfield, Conn., Ader told Daily Voice.

Little Caesars prides itself on providing delicious, inexpensive pizzas, selling for as little as $5 to $7 in the tri--state area.

Overhead to the shop owner is kept down, Ader said, because Little Caesars offers strictly carryout food: pizza, chicken wings and other side orders. Some shops add drive-through windows when local laws allow them.

Without a sit-down area, or the need to hire delivery drivers, fewer employees have to be hired by the shop owner. Little Caesars' central office handles all worker training and marketing for the new franchisee as well as help selecting the location and devising a business plan.

Initially, Little Caesars is looking to open a White Plains' store early next year near the intersection of North Broadway and Main Street or along Mamaroneck Avenue near Maple Avenue depending on availability.

There are no Little Caesars in Putnam County, but there's an opportunity to open one in Carmel, Ader said.

Ader said Little Caesars is the fastest growing carryout pizza chain in the world based on the net number of stores added in 2008-2013.

The ideal franchisee is someone local who is interested in being a part of an established and well-known brand, Ader said.
