Tarrytown Resident Opens Hit The Road Cyclery Bike Shop

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- Rich Nickla will bring his vast experience as a cyclist, mechanic and cycling guru to the Rivertowns when he opens Hit The Road Cyclery in Dobbs Ferry on Saturday, April 26, to welcome visitors from noon. to 5 p.m.

Hit The Road is a cycling and triathlon retailer that Nickla says brings a much-needed service to cyclists in the Rivertowns looking for bikes and components.

“Westchester has so many committed cyclists and great places to ride," Nickla said. "Now, serious and recreational cyclists as well as triathletes have a new local and online shop to buy custom bikes and get components and tune-ups."

Nickla, a Tarrytown resident, began working as a mechanic and store manager in 1995 and has helped thousands of cyclists find their ideal road, triathlon, and mountain bikes. A former competitive cyclist himself, the Chicago native said he understands the needs of all types of cyclists, from casual beginners to top level competitors.

"There are a growing number of triathletes and cyclists who we will be able to help customize and maintain their equipment," Nickla said.

Hit The Road Cyclery features a welcoming atmosphere where cyclists and triathletes can have a customized shopping experience with an expert. As a master mechanic, Nickla builds bikes to customers’ precise specifications as well as providing exceptional ongoing service and maintenance.

Hit The Road carries a full line of road, MTB and triathlon bikes from Kestrel, Breezer and BMC, as well as components from Shimano, Rotor, Xlab, and Profile Designs, clothing from Bellwether and Club Ride, and shoes from Fizik and Bont.

The store also carries helmets, hydration systems and other accessories for racers and recreational riders alike. The shop began online and maintains a wide online selection.

Hit The Road is located at Located at 145 Palisade Street, northwest entrance, in Dobbs Ferry. The shop will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays.
