Created by Irvington's Adele Falco, Curious is filled with living rooms, libraries, patios and reading rooms where inquiring minds can share ideas, create and teach arts, crafts and other skills while forming friendships.
"We wanted to create an atmosphere where people can share their knowledge, ideas, talents and creativity with others," said Falco, who comes from a background in computer sciences. "We tend to find ourselves closed up in our work places, connected by phone and the Internet. Curious is a sharing place. We hope to have several activities going on through the week with lots of interaction."
Built around a foundation of books from Falco's Palisades Books online company stock, the large, sunny space flows through the old loft at 145 Palisades Street, which once housed a brewery. There are cushy couches, comfortable arm chairs, room to stretch and read and Wifi for those who wish to stay connected to the world outside Curious-on-Hudson.
Falco said Curious will be home to a poetry slam, local food fest, author events, poetry workshops, garden planning, knitting, crocheting and a growing number of activities. The suburban sharing hideaway will host book clubs and lecture series of all kinds.
The premiering "Winter Food-for-Thought" series, which costs $10 per person, will feature authors Robin Shulman ("Eat The City") and Frederick Kaufman ("Bet the Farm"), who will discuss food and community and world hunger among other subjects.
