Apple's Fall Launch Of Internet TV Has Rivals Watching

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Tech giant Apple is planning to launch a new internet television service this fall and its new format could have the established players in the game scrambling to keep up, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Apple's proposed internet television service could have the traditional giants in the streaming industry scrambling to keep up.

Apple's plan is to offer roughly 25 different television channels for around $30 a month. This platform would be a departure from the more traditional internet-based services offered by Amazon.com, Microsoft and Google who offer mostly content that has been previously aired, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The company's primary advantage over other platforms like Google is that it can earn more back on investments via the sale of iPhones, iPads and Macs. Google earns comparatively little when customers purchase Android devices because the software is free to device makers, The Wall Street Journal said.
